Scribal Activities – Come play!

I am again opening my house on the following dates for Wyewood Scribal activities:

Sunday, September 13th from 1pm – Alamanda’s house

Time to work on our calligraphy !  Come see and try pens and certain types of calligraphy.

SaturdaySunday, October 12-13th ALL DAY – Barony of Wastekeep

I am going to the Heraldic & Scribal Symposium in the Barony of Wastekeep.  I plan to teach scribalclasses and have fun (maybe overnight it).

Sunday, November 15th from 1pm – Alamanda’s house

So long as the world works in my favor this will be another fine day for working on calligraphy and illumination.

Sunday, December 13th from 1pm – Alamanda’s house

I will have open house with Christmas goodies, apple cider and scribal goodness!

There may be other evenings that I will open my home – let me know if Sunday’s are not good as I want to have as many people as possible able to enjoy trying their hand at the Scribal arts.

NEWCOMERS and EVERYONE else!  There is no previous skill of any artistic kind to come and enjoy the afternoons.  I have a modest library of illuminated manuscripts where the artwork is a wealth of ideas for lifestyle, garb, tools; basically everything you may want to visually enjoy of the many time periods that we all play in.  Please come out!

Archery Report for 9/2/15

Though I greatly enjoyed the rain the last few days I always want sun on Wednesdays in the summer. Thank you Excellencies (who are *of course* responsible for the weather) for the lovely day!

Later in the season some archers like to try new things. This can be shooting a new bow or trying Royal Rounds for the first time. Confession…I volun-told a new archer Jeff (who found a gorgeous Bear Tamerlane in ebay, jealous!) to shoot his first Royal and another new archer, KC, joined him. They both shot really well as you will see! Tymme is changing things up by using his longbow more and is really making good strides and I *think* we might have fixed something for him that could really pay dividends in the future.

Note: Old and new archers can and should use coaching. If you see something that might help, first ASK if you can suggest something. If not sure ask one of our marshals if it’s ok. Some archers have specific people they listen to so if they say “I only take instruction from Avine” that’s fine. They have found a communication style that works for the two of them and so ask Avine if they are working on something and oh did she notice “X”?

To the Scores!

Open:
Ekaterina/ Onora: 64 (Career high!)
Jeff Reed: 47 (First Royal Round, great job!)
KC Johnson: 64 (First Royal Round, wow!)
Gervais Blakglove: 98 (Season high!)
Sebhdann: 51

Longbow:
Deabhail: 90 (Season High!)
Tymme: 67 (Career High!)

REMINDER: FCS cancelled Aug-14

Greetings Wyewood,

This is just a reminder that we DO NOT have an FCS scheduled this Friday, August 14 due to the conflict with Autumn War.

I will see you at Champions tomorrow, Autumn War next week, or at our rescheduled Business meeting on Aug-26 at 7pm at the archery range.

Changes to FCS in August

Greetings,

I wanted to share some of the decisions that were made at the business meeting last night that will affect the barony.

1. The FCS scheduled for August 14 has been cancelled due to the conflict with Autumn War.

2. The business meeting scheduled for August 28 will instead be held at 7pm on August 26 at the archery/rapier practice location. This change is to allow baronial members to get up to the sergeantry trials site for set up.

Yes, I will be reaching out to the church to determine if our August rent can be applied to January.

Fiber date change?

Greetings Wyewood,
Those present at the Fiber Night at the Benson Starbucks last night would like to propose a change in the regular meeting time for Fiber/Threadworkers night from the 3rd Wednesday to the 1st Thursday. We happen to have a pretty good size group in this discussion, including both regulars and some folks who cannot usually make it on its current night.
If there is some reason that this change should not be made please speak to the whole list, not to me personally. I am not the head of the group (I’m not sure we really have a head) but just happen to be taking the initiative with starting the discussion. If I hear silence on the e-mail list and FB I will assume the change is OK and ask our web mistress to put it on the calendar appropriately.

July 15 archery practice recap

14 people came out to enjoy an unexpectedly modified practice that also
included the return of lost archers!

Today we saw Lovell, Leonard and Trish, and Edwin on the range!

The practice was modified due to the unexpected presence of cars on the
range, so most of the practice we could only shoot the 20, with the 30 able
to be uncovered near the end of practice.

Score submitted:
Target Buster:
Tymme – crossbow – 105

Archery Practice Report for 7/8/15

Greetings Archers!

Well the weather was not set to “Broil” today and a breeze kept things cooler and much more interesting for shooting!

Apparently apologies are in order, one of the guys must have put out the “No Girls Allowed” sign and we were stuck with six men on the range. Mea Culpa!

To the scores!

Open:
Evrard: 87
Gervais: 84

Crossbow:
Tymme:101 (One of his best and he’s back to a Grand Master average again!)
Gervais: 79

Period Crossbow:
Tymme: 90

This weekend I’ll have the range with full loaner gear. Weather looks like it will be optimal for archery!

Wyewood help at July Coronation

Greetings Wyewood,

We as a Barony will help with parking and gate on Saturday from 10am-2pm Gate shift at July Coronation.

We agreed to supply a minimum of 2 people at the Table at all times = Need one more for the Noon-2 shift.

We agreed to supply a minimum of 2-4 people at the Cars at all times = Need at least one more for both shifts.

I know it’s not glamorous but it is necessary for the functioning of the event. And we did agree to take this 10am-2pm shift for Lady Red Finn back in May at our business meeting. PLEASE message Allessandra de Montefeltro if you can take one or more of these shifts.
